Matic has introduced voice and gesture controls for its robot vacuum and mop through a free software update called Matic Cues.

Users can simply say commands such as “Hey Matic, vacuum the kitchen” without opening an app. The system understands more than 70 languages and can vacuum, mop, target specific rooms, pause cleaning or return to the dock.

Voice control is powered by Google Gemini, while gesture control combines spoken commands with the robot’s cameras to identify where the user is pointing. Matic says the update is designed to make the robot easier to use for everyone in the household.

Matic Cues is rolling out to existing robots via an over-the-air update and will be included with new devices. Matic says its privacy-focused processing runs on the robot, with cloud sharing requiring explicit user permission.
