As AI-generated content becomes harder to distinguish from real media, Google is addressing this by adopting the Content Credentials standard from the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA). This technology will help identify the origin of images and videos, indicating if they were captured by a camera, edited or created by AI.

Google plans to introduce this feature in Search and its ad system, with potential future integration into YouTube. The initiative aims to improve transparency around AI-altered content and encourage other companies to adopt the standard.
