Apple is restructuring its AI efforts by bringing Kim Vorrath, a 36-year Apple veteran, to its AI and machine learning division as a key deputy to AI chief John Giannandrea, according to Bloomberg. Vorrath, known for her role in launching Vision Pro software and the original iPhone software, aims to bring more rigor to Apple’s AI development.

Despite highlighting its AI initiatives at WWDC, Apple’s efforts haven’t matched the impact of tools like ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini. Siri upgrades, such as screen-aware actions, are delayed until iOS 18.4, and AI-powered news summaries will be paused in iOS 18.3 due to inaccuracies.

Apple’s AI team is reportedly focusing on overhauling Siri’s infrastructure and improving its in-house AI models, signaling the growing importance of AI for the company’s future.
