Waymo has announced plans to launch its fully autonomous ride-hailing service in London in 2026, marking its first major European expansion. Partnering with Moove, the company will soon begin working with UK authorities to secure necessary approvals.
The service will use the Waymo app to offer driverless rides designed to complement London’s public transport network. Waymo says its technology results in five times fewer injury collisions and twelve times fewer pedestrian accidents than human drivers.
UK Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander praised the move as a boost for accessibility, jobs, and innovation, while the RNIB called it a “new era in independent mobility.”
