Google is continuing its push into AI video, launching the Veo 3.1 Lite model for developers despite OpenAI shutting down its Sora video app.
Veo 3.1 Lite focuses on affordability and usability, offering 720p video (with audio) from just $0.05 per second and 1080p at $0.08, though it’s limited to short clips (4–8 seconds) and isn’t available in the Gemini app—only for paid AI Studio users.
Google also cut prices for its more advanced Veo 3.1 Fast model, making higher-quality video generation cheaper, including 4K output.
