Google has launched a native Gemini app for macOS, expanding its AI presence beyond Android and the web—and deeper into Apple’s ecosystem.

The app lets users access Gemini instantly with an Option + Space shortcut, eliminating the need for a browser. It can analyze on-screen content by sharing a window, helping with tasks like summarizing charts or working with local files. It also supports AI image and video generation tools like Nano Banana and Veo.

Available globally for free on macOS 15 or later, the app signals Google’s push to make Gemini a core part of everyday Mac workflows, even as Apple continues developing its own AI vision.
