Due to the great flood of science fiction stories written by AI robots, the portal of fantasy literature Clarkesworld suspended accepting new posts. Fortunately, most fake stories are easily identified by editors, because there are many repetitions in the pieces generated by Chat GPT.
The flood of fake stories has also hit other publications. For example, Asimov’s Science Fiction magazine got more than 20 short stories under the title “The Last Hope”, all of which came from different from e-mails and the names of different authors.
In January, Asimov’s Science Fiction magazine received over 900 entries, during February already 1000 pieces. According to the editor, this increase is clearly created by AI. With every read story it´s easier to identify stories created by artificial intelligence. Besides the recurring titles, these stories also feature many characters of the same name.
