Creating a sewing pattern from an existing garment can be a time-consuming task, but now an AI model has been trained to do the job based on just a photo. AI can turn a single photo of a garment into exact sewing patterns to recreate the garment.
Garment manufacturers use sewing patterns to create the variously shaped pieces of material that make up a garment, using them as templates for cutting and sewing fabric. Reproducing a pattern from an existing garment can be a time-consuming task.
Xiangyu Xu from Singapore’s Sea AI Lab and his colleagues trained an artificial intelligence model to recognize sewing patterns using just a photo, making the job much easier.
