According to a reliable industry analyst, Apple and OpenAI are nearing an agreement to bring ChatGPT features to the iOS platform. At the same time, separate negotiations are underway with Google to bring Gemini features to the iPhone maker’s platform.
In the last six months, the artificial branch of Google Gemini has made a lot of waves. Gemini now seems to be in everything Google does, including the Android operating system, the world’s most popular mobile platform. Meanwhile, Apple hasn’t made much of a splash with generative AI and large language models (LLM). All signs point to that changing soon, and not just through Apple itself.
Over the past few months, Apple has been in discussions with both Google and OpenAI about using their respective LLMs to power future iOS features. According to industry analyst Mark Gurman, Apple’s deal with OpenAI may be close to being finalized.
It’s too early to tell, but it seems very likely that OpenAI could power some iOS 18 features. At the same time, negotiations with Google are ongoing. Therefore, it is possible that iOS AI features may come with the support of both companies.
