Nvidia made $14 billion in profit in a single quarter due to high demand for its AI chips. CEO Jensen Huang announced that Nvidia will now design new chips annually instead of every two years, starting with the “Rubin” architecture in 2025.
This accelerated pace will apply to all Nvidia chip types, including CPUs, GPUs, and networking components. The new AI GPUs will be backward-compatible, allowing easy upgrades for customers.
Demand for Nvidia’s AI chips is expected to continue outpacing supply, driven by their efficiency and profitability. Notably, Tesla and Meta are major customers, with Meta planning to have over 350,000 H100 GPUs by year-end.
