Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI’s co-founder, has launched a new AI company, Safe Superintelligence Inc. (SSI), focusing on creating a safe and powerful AI system.

SSI aims to balance safety and capability advancements, avoiding the pressures faced by larger companies like OpenAI, Google and Microsoft. Co-founded by Daniel Gross and Daniel Levy, SSI’s business model insulates safety and progress from short-term commercial pressures.

Sutskever, who left OpenAI after pushing to oust CEO Sam Altman, emphasizes that SSI will focus solely on developing safe superintelligence without distractions from other products or partnerships.
