Researchers at Texas A&M University have developed a robot dog with a flamethrower that controls weeds on farms, offering an alternative to harmful herbicides.
Attached to Boston Dynamics’ Spot robot, the flame lamp uses short bursts of heat to limit weed growth and suppress harmful plants without killing crops.
In tests, the robot burned weeds with 95 percent accuracy, potentially reducing reliance on chemical weed killers.
