Waymo has unveiled its sixth-generation robot taxi, an electric minivan manufactured by China’s Zeekr. The new vehicle is more advanced and cost-effective, with a reduced number of sensors while maintaining high-tech capabilities.
However, potential cost savings could be affected by upcoming US tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles. The robot taxi is equipped with 16 cameras, 5 lidars, 6 radars and other sensors that increase safety and performance.
Waymo plans to add these new vehicles to its fleet soon, though the impact of the tariffs on its rollout remains uncertain.
