OpenAI has introduced “o1,” a new reasoning model designed to tackle complex problems such as coding and math, outperforming previous models like GPT-4o.
Alongside o1, OpenAI also released a smaller, cheaper version called o1-mini. While o1 is more accurate and capable of explaining its reasoning, it is slower and more expensive to use. Currently available to ChatGPT Plus and Team users, the model excels in reasoning but lacks some factual knowledge and features like web browsing.
OpenAI aims to use o1 as a step toward developing more autonomous AI systems.
