Apple is no longer in talks to join OpenAI’s funding round, which aims to raise up to $6.5 billion.

Microsoft and Nvidia are still considering participation, with Microsoft expected to invest around $1 billion. Thrive Capital is leading the round with a similar amount and Tiger Global and UAE’s MGX are also potential investors.

OpenAI is restructuring from a nonprofit to a for-profit, and if it doesn’t complete this transition in two years, current investors can request their money back.
