Apple has officially canceled its Autonomous Vehicles Program Testing Permit with the California DMV, effective September 27th, following the internal cancellation of its Apple Car project earlier this year.
The permit, tied to Apple’s now-scrapped Project Titan, would have been active until 2025. The project initially aimed to create an autonomous electric vehicle without a steering wheel or pedals, but Apple scaled back these plans before ultimately canceling it. This move comes just as Tesla revealed its fully autonomous “Cybercab” vehicle, expected to ship before 2027.
