OpenAI is testing a ChatGPT app for Windows, currently available only to paid users. The app, downloadable from the Microsoft Store, allows users to interact with the AI chatbot in a dedicated window and upload files or photos.

It also features a preview of OpenAI’s o1 model with enhanced reasoning abilities. While some features, like advanced voice mode, are still missing, OpenAI plans to make the app available to all users later this year. The company has also addressed a past security vulnerability by encrypting locally stored data.
