Disney has created the Office of Technology Enablement to oversee the use of emerging technologies like AI and mixed reality across its film, TV and theme park divisions. Led by Jamie Voris, previously the film studio’s CTO, the new unit will ensure projects align with Disney’s broader strategy, focusing on advancements in AI and XR (extended reality). The team, expected to grow to around 100 members, will explore applications like AR, VR and mixed reality to enhance consumer experiences. Disney has been assembling expertise in these areas, including the recent return of AR/VR expert Kyle Laughlin to lead R&D for Walt Disney Imagineering.
