Google, in collaboration with Sphere Entertainment and other partners, is using advanced AI to enhance The Wizard of Oz for an immersive screening at the Las Vegas Sphere. AI models like Gemini, Veo 2, and Imagen 3 were used to upscale the 1939 film to fit the Sphere’s massive 16,000 x 16,000 pixel screen, extend scenes, and add characters not originally visible. Google also trained its models using archival materials from Warner Bros. The enhanced version, debuting August 28, 2025, may include additional sensory effects like heat, wind, and scents for a fully immersive experience.
