OpenAI and Microsoft have signed a non-binding MOU to define the next phase of their partnership as OpenAI prepares for a potential IPO. Microsoft, which has invested $13B since 2019, will remain a partner but OpenAI can also use other cloud providers. Microsoft is simultaneously ramping up its own AI model development. OpenAI confirmed its nonprofit parent will retain control of the for-profit arm, valued at over $100B. The company is also cooperating with California and Delaware AG investigations into its restructuring plans.
