Microsoft is investing £22B (~$30B) in the UK from 2025–2028 to boost AI infrastructure and operations. The plan includes $15B for building the country’s largest supercomputer with 23,000+ GPUs, in partnership with Nscale, plus expansion of existing data centers. Microsoft says this represents over two-thirds of all tech investment announcements in the UK this week, outpacing Google’s £5B pledge. CEO Brad Smith praised UK government efforts to improve planning, energy capacity, and regulations, calling the move a major vote of confidence in the UK’s AI leadership.
