Amazon’s first robot taxi without a steering wheel or pedals, Zoox, has received permission to drive on public roads in California. Although companies like Waymo and Cruise have already brought robot taxis to public roads, Amazon’s robot-taxi differs in that it completely lacks the traditional car controls.

A strange, toaster-shaped robot taxi has been allowed to drive in restricted areas of Foster City for the time being. Top speed of Zoox taxi is limited 40 miles per hour for now and it can only move around during daylight hours on the weekends. In case of bad weather conditions, it is forbidden to move around with this robot.
