Researchers at the University of Taiwan developed a robotic hand equipped with small sensors that detects harmful mercury compounds in food and water by touching it.
The World Health Organization considers mercury to be a major problem because water or food exposed to it can cause serious health problems for people. There were methods for mercury detection before, but they were very complicated and time consuming compared to the new robotic arm technology.
