Video platform TikTok is working on a new way for creators to disclose whether their posts contain AI-generated content. Before uploading a video, a new “AI-generated content” toggle will appear in the “More options” section. The description of this switch states that it helps “prevent content removal”.

TikTok updated its rules in March and requires users to refer to deepfake and AI-generated content.

After turning on this feature, TikTok showed a new pop-up window. The pop-up reminds creators to tag AI-generated content and reiterates that TikTok may remove content if it isn’t properly tagged.

Competing platform Instagram is also working on its own AI content disclosure tags. Along with tech companies Google, Amazon and Microsoft, Instagram’s parent company Meta pledged last month to develop AI responsibly and clearly inform users when content is AI-generated.
