Google invests up to $2 billion in artificial intelligence startup Anthropic. The company has also previously invested in this company and with the latest investment, it adds momentum to the race between startups that are trying to achieve a new big breakthrough in the field of emerging technology.
Google invested $500 million in the OpenAI rival and agreed to add another $1.5 billion over time, people familiar with the matter said. Amazon promised to invest $4 billion in the company last month.
Google, Amazon and Microsoft are pouring billions into competing AI companies. Microsoft has invested $13 billion in OpenAI.
Anthropic was founded in 2021 by former OpenAI engineers with the goal of developing competitive generative AI models.
