According to analysis company Counterpoint Research, the sales number of smartphones with generative artificial intelligence will reach 100 million units this year. By 2027, the company expects shipments of GenAI smartphones to reach 522 million units.

Samsung and Qualcomm are the leaders in this market. Similar to foldable devices, Samsung is likely to achieve nearly 50 percent market share in AI smart devices in the next two years, followed by major Chinese OEMs such as Xiaomi, Vivo, Honor and Oppo.

Among chipmakers, Qualcomm is likely to win more than 80 percent of the GenAI smartphone market in the next two years. MediaTek is likely to catch up with its Dimensity 9300-based devices.

Counterpoint Research defines GenAI smartphones as a subset of artificial intelligence smartphones that use generative AI to create original content, rather than providing pre-programmed responses or performing predetermined tasks.
