Apple launched MGIE, an AI-based image manipulation program that uses text instructions to modify and edit images.

The program can perform simple image manipulation operations such as increasing contrast or brightness and changing white balance. You can also try to give more complex hints – for example, make the pizza healthier by adding vegetables to the picture.

The model can also crop and resize images, automatically fill image borders, change the subject’s hair, eyes and clothing and remove objects.

MGIE is just the first step in Apple’s generative AI journey. It probably won’t appear on Apple’s current devices, but it’s likely a sign of things to come.
