OpenAI announced a new AI model called GPT-4o, which is faster and cheaper than GPT-4 Turbo. The company also makes GPT-4o immediately available to developers.
During the live broadcast, Mira Murati, the company’s CTO, said that the new AI model was created with ease of use in mind. In its blog post, the company also said that the new AI model is much better at understanding images than any existing model.
In addition to being more user-friendly, the software is said to be much faster and offers advanced capabilities with text, audio and video. In fact, GPT-4o is said to be twice as fast as GPT-4 Turbo. The company also plans to bring GPT-4o to all ChatGPT users, but will roll out to paying customers first.
ChatGPT has also been improved. According to the company, you can expect faster and higher quality responses with support in 50 different languages. Notably, now the chatbot can interrupt voice responses, can understand different emotions and speaks in a more natural, human tone. If desired, you can ask the chatbot to speak like a robot.
OpenAI made GPT-4o immediately available for developers to start building applications using this technology. The model is available through the company’s API.
