Anthropic launched its latest AI model, the Claude 3.5 Sonnet, claiming it outperforms rivals OpenAI’s GPT-4o and Google’s Gemini in various tasks. Available to Claude users online and on iOS, the model is a mid-range performance option, but outpaces the previous top-of-the-line model, the 3 Opus.

Claude 3.5 Sonnet does a great job of writing, translating code, handling workflows, interpreting diagrams and transcribing text from images. It also understands humor better and writes more naturally. The model outperformed the competition in several benchmarks, suggesting it is a strong contender in the AI space.

Anthropic also introduced a new feature called Artifacts, which allows users to interact with and modify AI-generated content directly within the app. This aligns with Anthropic’s vision of creating a tool for enterprises to centralize knowledge and documents, positioning Claude as an all-in-one workspace tool rather than just a chatbot.
