Apple is planning a major AI upgrade for Siri, introducing a version called “LLM Siri” powered by advanced AI models, similar to ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini Live. This update will enable more natural, conversational interactions and improved capabilities, such as handling advanced tasks, summarizing text, and interacting with third-party apps via App Intents.
Apple may announce initial updates next year, with a complete overhaul of Siri’s software expected by spring 2026. Unlike OpenAI’s models, Siri will remain focused on quick, device-based tasks like sending texts or controlling smart devices. Apple has also begun integrating AI into Siri with features like ChatGPT support in the iOS 18.2 beta. More enhancements, including app-specific actions and screen understanding, are set to roll out next year.
