President Donald Trump has signed a new executive order encouraging certain AI companies to voluntarily submit new AI models for government review before public release. While an earlier draft proposed up to 90 days of review, the final version recommends up to 30 days of testing and evaluation.
The order also directs the Department of Justice to treat AI-assisted hacking and unauthorized computer access as high-priority crimes, strengthening efforts to prevent the misuse of artificial intelligence for cybercrime.
