Google has filed a lawsuit against a China-based cybercrime network allegedly using its Gemini AI to run large-scale financial scams targeting hundreds of thousands of Americans.

According to reports, the group created fake websites impersonating Google, YouTube, and US government services to trick users into fraud schemes, leading to millions in losses. Google says the operation involved thousands of fake sites, over a million fraudulent URLs, and millions of scam messages sent to Android users.

Alongside the lawsuit, Google is working with US carriers and the FBI to block scam messages and shut down the network, while also pushing for stronger AI-era regulations to combat similar abuses.
